On the biggest tides the grazing at Cwm Ivy transforms into a lake, the sheep seek higher ground and the sky takes over the whole scene. Getting up at 4.30am to catch the dawn and the early tide was so worth it, a unique experience of painting the transformation in the landscape and so peaceful.
The lovely Jenny and Philip commissioned this, the reverse aspect of the view from their house (seen top left in the painting). What a day out that was! I finished it in the weeks following and I am very lucky that they invite me back to see it because I didn't spend quite enough time enjoying the finished piece before I let it go.
